By Ida Dorsey

Many ways of communicating each other have been a convenience due to the developing technology that we have. The tendency for this is that it would only grow further and be better. For businesses and also residential owners, they have been utilizing this technology for their varied daily needs and for them to be able to cut expenses.

These residences and businesses can try many options to cut their expenses on some utilities especially for communication. Phone systems Dallas has a lot of advantages but also some disadvantages depending on the scale of use they are. So this is highly dependent on how the owner wants to use this utility.

VoIP has been one of the leading alternatives for making calls. This stands for Voice over Internet Protocol which means that the communication between two or a number of parties is done over the internet. This medium is entirely different from the traditional landline and mobile phones.

A few residential uses for this would include programs or software in your community that transmits signals over the internet as long as it is provided with the right equipment. This is basically called online video or voice calls. But in terms of a larger scale, there are providers in the market who can give this for commercial establishments.

Generally, systems for telephones have a Private Branch Exchange or a PBX. This would automatically direct the calls towards their destinations and this is actually called the automatic switchboard system. Then any phone system that is running in this nature would be called a PBX. Many of the businesses have transferred to this kind of system because they want to add more working lines for every employee without having to install a direct one for each.

The VoiP has a great advantage when it comes to switching between two lines. It can be used both in the Public Switched Telephone Network or PSTN and the PBX. The PSTN is actually a collection of various telephone company providers which operate and maintain various lines and cables, like satellite, cellular, optics, and undersea.

There is a certain difference between regular PBX lines and with the VoIP. Basically, VoIP is a kind of PBX, but it can deliver more advantages that the PBX is limited to. It uses the internet instead of TDM or Time Division Multiplexing which is used by PBX. A provider may also give this and it is the same for PSTN, too.

Businesses have widely spread the use for this kind of technology because of how flexible it is and how easy it can be integrated and included in other types of systems in their establishments. This makes it easy for them to make necessary changes or developments to improve their systems. This makes the expenses for these changes and developments to cost lesser and to increase productivity as well.

Basic features of this would include Auto Attendant, Direct Dialing, Caller ID, Call Waiting, Call transfers, Call Forwards, Three way calling, Call park, Call pickup, Voicemail, Conference calling, Remote or Virtual Extensions, web based management, and application integration. It can also queue calls, record and monitor, and initialize reports. More features would only add up to the existing ones since these are just the basics. So being able to have this integrated in your business would deliver various benefits and cost effectivity.
