By Adam Khan

There are many business models to choose from when using Facebook. You can use Facebook ads to sell affiliate products or to sell your own products as well, whether it's digital like ebooks, physical products or the currently popular Tee Spring model. However, for the purposes of this article let's focus on one particular Facebook marketing business. The overall business plan is pretty straightforward, utilizing three things - a Facebook Fan page, Facebook Ads, and your own web site.

Create a Facebook Fan Page and a Like Campaign - Regardless of your business, you must have a Facebook fan page. Go where your customers are. Having a presence on Facebook allows you to interact with your customers and potential customers in a way you can't achieve anywhere else. But having a fan page for your business you can keep your market informed on new products, hold contests, build your brand and keep them engaged. How we do business has changed and you can no longer avoid social media.

Build A Strategy - Create a strategy first. Plan how you will use Facebook to market your product or services. Most of the business use it to create awareness of what they offer while some use it to connect with consumers to source ideas for new products. Bottom line is that you will a strategy to start off.

Build a List (and do it on Facebook) - You must build an email list of potential customers. This is the key to building a successful business online for the long term. You need to be able to market and inform your customers at any time. Facebook is a fantastic place to market right now but who knows what changes to their platform may take place in the future. If you don't have your own email list of potential customers, you could be out of business at the wink of an eye.

Remember the domination of MySpace? Yeah, I didn't think so! Or how Google changed their Adwords policy and instantly put a lot of seven figure affiliate marketers out of business. Create a tab on your fan page where people can give you their email address in exchange for something for free, whether it's a special report, video, podcast, or whatever works in your market.

By keeping this list building form on Facebook your fans will feel more comfortable giving up their email address because they trust Facebook, as opposed to you sending them to another web site.
